The Teatro Massimo
Italy's largest opera house, steps from our door.
Main auditorium — Teatro Massimo, Palermo
A neoclassical masterpiece at the heart of the city
The Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele is the largest opera house in Italy and the third largest in Europe, inaugurated in 1897 after 22 years of construction. Its neoclassical facade, designed by Giovan Battista Filippo Basile, dominates Piazza Verdi — one of the most iconic sights in Palermo.
The theatre hosts opera, ballet and concert seasons from September to June. Its 7,730-seat auditorium is renowned for its exceptional acoustics. The final scene of The Godfather Part III was filmed on the steps of the Teatro Massimo.
From our windows and balconies you can see the theatre in all its grandeur — day and night, illuminated during evening performances.
